A reduction in Russian gas imports has led to the German nuclear sector intending to delay the final two of its three nuclear power projects until next spring, reports Der Spiegel magazine.

German Economics and Energy Minister Robert Habeck will reportedly reveal results of stress tests of German nuclear power facilities to the government Monday evening, according to Der Spiegel.

Germany's final three nuclear power facilities were supposed to be shut down by the end of this year. Der Spiegel claims that one of them, Emsland, will indeed shut down as scheduled. As a backup for the German power grid, the other two nuclear power stations, Neckarwestheim and Isar 2, will continue to run until mid-April 2023.

The media had previously reported that the German government was thinking about closing nuclear power reactors sooner than planned. No formal judgment has yet been made public on this matter.
