In February of this year, Musk and a consortium of investors submitted a proposal to purchase the non-profit organization overseeing OpenAI for $97.4 billion. Before this, the entrepreneur charged the firm's leadership with straying from the startup's initial purpose and opting to develop artificial intelligence for monetary gain.
Documents revealed in court show that Musk and his AI firm xAI sought partners for a consortium and, in this effort, reached out to Zuckerberg regarding potential involvement in funding the agreement.
Zuckerberg and Meta have not entered into any agreements of intent to engage in the deal.
A representative from Meta refused to provide a comment, and so did Zuckerberg's attorney.
