The newspaper reports that the U.S. military plans to withdraw from Syria in the coming two months.

It was previously reported that the US military left its main base in al-Shaddadi, located in Hasakah Province in northeastern Syria. The Syrian army has taken control of the base, and the handover of authority occurred in coordination with the United States.

Last week, the United States also left the al-Tanf base located in southern Syria.

In April 2025, the United States had started to decrease the number of troops stationed in Syria. The military intended to shut down three out of eight military bases located in the northeastern part of the country, which would result in a decrease in the number of troops from 2,000 to 1,400. At the same time, the American command on the ground suggested "keeping at least 500 American troops in Syria."
