The notification, which was published on the authority's official website, stated that the inspection found that Micron's products had "relatively serious hidden cybersecurity issues that pose significant security risks to China's key core information infrastructure supply chain and affect China's national security."

The warning stated that the company "failed to pass the verification" as a result. According to the authority, Chinese operators of key information infrastructure should stop acquiring Micron products in compliance with the legislation.

According to sources cited by the Financial Times in late April, the U.S. government instructed South Korea to tell its chip manufacturers not to sell their products in China in case the Chinese government decided to outlaw the American firm Micron.
