The resolution included the removal of Ahmed al-Sharaa and Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab from the list of sanctioned individuals linked to ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
The resolution received support from 14 members of the UN Security Council, while China chose not to vote. Following the vote, the Syrian government expressed its appreciation to the UN Security Council for backing the resolution.
Foreign Asaad al-Shaibani posted on the social media platform X, stating, "Syria expresses its gratitude to the United States and friendly countries for their support of Syria and its people." He also remarked that the vote shows "increasing confidence in the leadership of President al-Sharaa."
Earlier reports mentioned that the Syrian transitional president would meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on November 10.
