Per these sources, STAR, one of Turkey's biggest refineries owned by Azerbaijan's SOCAR, has recently bought four oil cargoes for December delivery from Iraq, Kazakhstan, and various other suppliers. Reuters estimates this signifies a range of 77,000 to 129,000 barrels per day (bpd).

Based on two sources, one of the four shipments consisted of KEBCO crude oil from Kazakhstan. STAR did not buy this type of crude last year. Additionally, Kpler reports that in September and October, Russian oil represented nearly the total amount of STAR oil shipments, around 210,000 bpd.

Tupras, which operates two major refineries in Turkey, is boosting its acquisitions of crude oil types comparable in quality to Russian Urals from various nations, including Iraqi oil, two sources disclosed to the agency. They mentioned that Tupras might soon cease all Russian oil supplies to one of its refineries to keep exporting fuel to Europe and evade EU sanctions.

Turkey, together with India and China, is among the main purchasers of Russian oil. Kpler reports that between January and October, Turkey imported around 669,000 bpd, with 317,000 bpd (47%) sourced from Russia.
