TotalEnergies fixes fuel costs at its filling stations

02/24/2023 - 04:37

According to the company’s CEO Patrick Pouyanne, the cost of gasoline and diesel at TotalEnergies stations will not exceed €1.99 per litre in 2023.

The action was taken after French President Emmanuel Macron urged fuel companies like Total to make a new gesture to assist people in coping with high costs.

Diesel and gasoline will be priced at no more than €1.99 at all TotalEnergies stations in 2023, according to Pouyanne, who also noted that the price limit will start to apply to highway fuel stations on Saturday and all other stations on March 1.

All items offered at gas stations will be covered by the program, with the exception of premium versions of unleaded 98 octane gasoline and Excellium diesel, according to TF1 news.

High gas costs are a touchy political subject in France because they gave rise to a protest movement during Macron's first presidential term.
