The EU views the US as imposing one-sided demands in trade negotiations, attempting to compel the union to offer unilateral concessions, Bloomberg reported on Saturday, referencing sources.

According to sources, Washington's requests encompass issues related to fish export limits, which the EU deems inconsistent with World Trade Organization regulations; unilateral measures concerning tariffs; and a range of economic security demands that EU officials describe as impractical, the agency states.

Sources from Bloomberg noted that a significant portion of the US tariffs will persist even if an agreement is achieved between the US and EU.

Therefore, the sources indicate, the ideal situation is reaching a consensus on the principles for settling disputes, which will enable discussions to persist beyond the July 9 deadline.

As reported by Bloomberg, in a 20-minute discussion at the G7 summit this week, US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the American leader's concerns about what he views as the EU's unjust treatment of US products and the challenges American automakers encounter due to trade barriers.

The European Commission and the White House chose not to provide any comments on this matter.

Previously, the US and EU intensified discussions on trade, covering essential items like steel and aluminum, cars, medications, semiconductors, aviation, along with tariffs and other obstacles; economic security and strategic acquisitions.
