The new electric truck will have a cruising range of around 480 kilometers, the agency reports. For comparison, the already available electric truck Tesla Semi has a cruise range of around 800 kilometers.
Launch dates for the affordable electric truck have not yet been made public, but Reuters reports that it is already known that the vehicles would contain lithium-iron-phosphate batteries (LFP).
The main LFP battery producers are centered in China, though, and enlisting Chinese suppliers may be challenging given the heightened political tensions between Washington and Beijing.
