Consumer interest in the production Tesla Motors is so great that the company barely has time to meet the demand. Many automakers would envy this state of affairs, but it can turn Tesla to problems. On the news about lowering forecasts, the company's shares, trading on Wednesday, fell 5.8% to $ 254.35. Since the beginning of the year, securities rose in price by 21%, said the news agency Bloomberg.

Today, Elon Musk has also announced that the long-awaited crossover Model X will be released in September this year. Tesla has put off the appearance of the crossover on the market twice: first in 2013, then at the end of 2014. According to Musk, it was caused by problems with suppliers of parts.

Apparently, the company now has difficulties with the production of its electric cars. The supply of sedan Model S could be interrupted because of the launch of the new model. The reason is the same - potential problems with suppliers.

Recall that in the II quarter, Tesla managed to sell 11.5 thousand of cars, what is better than the forecast of the company. The result also exceeded market expectations. Sales in April-June was a record for the company.

Model X in the base will be equipped with all-wheel drive. For additional payments, customers will be able to order the installation of a third row of seats. In addition, there expected three versions of battery modules - a capacity of 60 or 85 kWh and 85 kWh with a system of performance.

The crossover will get "falcon wings" door type. They are similar in design to the "gull-wing", but can be opened in a more confined space. Thus, passengers can sit down with higher comfort. Of course, electrical crossovers get the most advanced electronic systems to assist the driver when driving, as well as auto pilot functions.

The crossover’s price remains a secret. Customers who had pre-order will have the first batch. Buyer’s deposit must be at least $ 5 thousand to be made to the database. At the same time, they will receive the brand-new Model X no earlier than 2016

Public beta test of the autopilot

Tesla Motors plans to begin open beta testing of automotive systems, autonomous control among its customers. The company is about to launch a so-called program of "early access" to new technologies for their favorite customers.

They will help identify all the features and possible errors in the system before the cars become available to all customers.

Volunteers, in particular, will test the Model S’ high-speed autonomous driving on the highway at the specified row and probably the ability to automatically change the band. Musk said that the mass introduction of such systems will begin "very soon" but did not specify exactly when. In late 2014, the head of the American company said that a fully autonomous "Tesla" would appear in five to six years. Then Musk said that it is "at the same time frightening and happy."

It is necessary to recall Tesla Motors’s main hope for the prosperity - "cheap" model, Model 3, which is promised to be shown in I quarter 2016. New Tesla should cost only $ 35 thousand. It will be the first time when Elon Musk make the brand mass. However, as in the case of Model X, the novelty may be awaited for years.

Earlier, Musk said the Model 3 would be a budget version of the existing luxury sedan Model S. It will be 20% more compact than Model S, and the range on a single charge is 200 miles (about 321 km). For comparison: Model S battery with up to 85 kW / h is able to travel without stopping 306 miles (about 492 km) and the Roadster - 245 miles (about 394 km). Premiere of new items will be held in 2016, and the start of sales - a year later.
