According to French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, one person exhibited hantavirus symptoms while on the flight.
All five passengers have been put "in strict isolation until further notice," Mr. Lecornu posted on social media. He mentioned that they are getting medical treatment and are being tested. The Prime Minister stated that he will announce a decree regarding actions to safeguard the public from infection.
Passengers began evacuating from the MV Hondius on May 10. The World Health Organization advised a 42-day isolation period for all travelers on the ship. Three individuals have contracted the infection aboard the ship, and a total of eight people have become ill.
A total of 147 individuals from 23 different countries were on the vessel. The WHO suggests that the initial passenger who died on the ship may have contracted the infection prior to boarding, potentially while traveling through Argentina and Chile.
