The restaurant’s menu is Halal. Dishes such as McMuffin (sandwich with egg and cutlet) are still present, but the recipe uses chicken instead pork meat.

On average, a set, which includes a McArabia hamburger (sandwich of tortillas and beef burgers), fries and a drink, costs less than five dollars.

"I know that the McDonald's has been opened, but we will never be there. We do not even consider this food as food for themselves. We live in a harsh, mountainous terrain and need this energy to fight the enemy", - one of Taliban’s warlords Ehsanullah Ehsan told NBC News. According to him, the militants groups prefer lamb and rice.

The Taliban commander also said that he once tried the food in McDonald's, but it was "too expensive and tasteless." However, Ehsan admitted that "fast food is acceptable in a hurry, when there is no other, good food."

Quetta is the capital of the Pakistani province of Balochistan. Taliban’s influence in the city was very strong in the 80s. It is believed that the population of Quetta is still sympathetic to the movement.

In 2015, The Independent included Quetta in the top ten world’s cities where terrorist attacks are the most likely to occur. The new McDonald's, as reported by NBC News, is located in the central area of the city, where the police patrolling is intense.

Previously in March, Xinhua agency reported that KFC was the first fast-food restaurants chain, which opened its establishment in the territory of Tibet.

The restaurant is located in a shopping center Shenli Shidai in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

"The hands-on experience of various fast food brands in Tibet shows that fried chicken and hamburgers are of great demand among local consumers," – said a representative of the shopping center. He added that the restaurant will also attract foreign tourists.

The first KFC restaurant in China was opened in 1987. There are about five thousand restaurants of the fast food chain currently working in more than 1.1 thousand cities of China.

Tibet has been under Chinese rule since 1951. The inhabitants of the region have virtually no opportunities to go abroad and learn foreign news. Their satellite dishes are confiscated to prevent the penetration of information about the Dalai Lama. The Tibetans, in turn, do not stop the fight for national self-determination. So, one of the forms of this struggle are the self-immolation, which the locals organize in protest against the infringement of their rights.
