Macron “continues to hold the same stance.” The president is reluctant to dissolve the National Assembly, “but he will not automatically renounce his constitutional powers,” the TV channel cites its source as stating.

Given the vote by National Assembly deputies on September 8 regarding confidence in François Bayrou's cabinet, a considerable segment of the parliamentary opposition is advocating for the government's resignation and the dissolution of the chamber, followed by new parliamentary elections.

Following the loss of the presidential social-liberal party "Renaissance" in the European Parliament elections on June 9, 2024, where it suffered a significant defeat against the nationalist "National Rally," Macron declared the dissolution of the National Assembly that same day and summoned early legislative elections.

Following the second round on July 7, the New Popular Front, a coalition of leftist parties, secured the majority of seats in the National Assembly. This disbanding of parliament fell short of Macron's expectations. Rather than solidifying his stance, it exacerbated the political deadlock, economic challenges, and social unrest.
