Egypt imports LNG for the first time since July amid limited gas supplies from Israel

11/09/2023 - 10:03

According to S&P Global Commodity Insights, Egypt purchased liquefied natural gas for the first time in recent months.

The cargo was brought to the Suez Canal port at Ain Sokhna by the Greek-flagged ship Maran Gas Kalymnos. In addition to the LNG, the ship also carrier oil.

Previously, Egypt had last imported LNG in July. The total volume delivered was 60,000 tons.

S&P Global notes that interruptions in Egypt's energy infrastructure have occurred as a result of limited gas supplies from Israel in recent weeks, requiring the government to seek new exporters.
