"Travelers continue to face flight delays and problems. Flight safety remains unaffected. We are collaborating with ENISA (the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity) and EUROCONTROL, along with national and regional airport authorities, to guarantee the normal functioning of flights and the safety of travelers," he stated.

He mentioned that this event highlighted the significance of completely integrating the European Network and Information Security Directive (NIS 2) into national legislation concerning cybersecurity. This directive, Renier remarked, "highlights aviation and various transportation methods as essential sectors."

The EC spokesperson emphasized the need for Member States to promptly and efficiently incorporate this directive into their laws.

Over the past weekend, a hacker attack caused disruptions to systems at significant European airports. The assault focused on Collins Aerospace, a supplier of check-in and boarding solutions.
