The European Central Bank (ECB) has warned banks about the risk of cyber attacks from Russia amid tensions with Ukraine, Reuters reported citing sources. According to one of them, the banks conducted cyber training to test their ability to repel hacker attacks.

According to the agency, the New York Financial Services Department also warned banks about possible cyber attacks by Russia.

In mid-January, Ukraine announced the largest cyber attack on the websites of state agencies in four years, and a few days later another similar incident became known.

Kiev suspected Russia of involvement in the hack. For its part, Moscow denied any connection to the cyber attack on Ukrainian state websites. Amid the attacks on Ukrainian resources, the National Cyber Security Centre of Great Britain also called on UK organizations and large businesses to prepare for possible cyber attacks.
