Citing a government official, the news agency stated that "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Justice and Development Party... will seek parliamentary approval to ratify Sweden's long-awaited NATO membership."

Thus, Hungary will be the only nation left to finish the procedure if Turkey grants the application.

Tuesday is set aside for a discussion on the subject, according to the Daily Sabah newspaper in Turkey, which is citing its sources.

Sweden applied for NATO in 2022. As an ally, Turkey imposed requirements on Stockholm that Ankara had to meet in order to approve the accession. In order to approve Sweden's membership in NATO, Erdogan sent a set of documents to the Turkish parliament at the end of October 2023.
