"Shell has announced the appointment of Sinead Gorman as chief financial officer with effect from 1 April 2022," the statement said.

Gorman is executive vice president of finance for the exploration and production division.

Uhl has worked for Shell for 17 years, five of which she was chief financial officer. The company notes that she is leaving the post due to family circumstances and the impracticality of a long-term move to the UK.

Royal Dutch Shell produces and processes hydrocarbons in more than 70 countries. In November, the board of directors proposed changes to its articles of association to simplify its share capital structure and bring it in line with other companies. Measures to restructure the company include moving to a single shareholding line from an A and B class share structure and changing its tax residency to the UK.
