Indonesia introduces golden visas to attract foreign investors

Indonesia is implementing a "golden visa" scheme to entice foreign business and individual investors and boost the local economy.

The Jakarta Post newspaper published the news in relation to the declaration made by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

According to immigration official Silmy Karim, who was quoted in the newspaper, "the golden visa grants a long-term residence permit of five to ten years." Individual investors must establish a company worth $2.5 million for the five-year visa, while $5 million is needed for the ten-year visa.

Corporate investors must pay $25 million to obtain director visas valid for five years. According to the publication, they must invest twice as much, or $50 million, to qualify for a ten-year visa.
