Lithuania wants to become an energy exporter in 2050

Lithuanian grid operator Litgrid reports that the nation produced 5.7 TWh of power in 2023 and consumed 11.1 TWh. These variables should therefore increase by 13 and 7 times, respectively, in 2050.

The plan allows for the potential development of nuclear reactors with modest power in the nation beyond 2030.

“We envision Lithuania as a completely self-sufficient nation that exports green energy at a competitive price once the plan is put into action,” said Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys. “Both our national security and the well-being of our country depend on this.”

The primary issues facing Lithuania’s energy sector, according to him, are rising power production and energy imports.
