Boeing management revealed that the company will not meet its goal of producing 500 aircraft from the 737 line this year, and it will only deliver around 90 787 Dreamliner jets, a number that is at the lower end of its earlier estimate.

Boeing will need additional time to achieve a greater, sustainable production rate, said CEO Kelly Ortberg in a third-quarter earnings call.

“As I mentioned earlier, our advancement won’t always be completely straightforward,” he pointed out. “However, we persist in our enhancements, and I believe we are heading the right way.”

In a CNBC interview, Ortberg mentioned that the company won’t be able to reliably manufacture 47 aircraft each month until early 2027. Boeing had earlier aimed to achieve that production rate by the summer that just passed.
