722 patients are either hospitalized or in isolation, and 849 have recovered.
The circumstances continue to be extremely severe in four provinces of the DRC: Ituri (the virus’s origin), North Kivu, Haut-Uélé, and Tshopo. South Kivu has gone 73 days without reporting any new confirmed cases.
The virus transmitted from the Ituri province in Congo to adjacent Uganda, which proclaimed itself “Ebola-free” on July 28. Uganda had earlier reported 20 cases, including two fatalities.
