The agreement "includes no acceptance of liability or fault" by the defendant or any associated parties, as stated by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

In mid-2021, Trump initiated lawsuits against YouTube, Facebook and Twitter (now X) due to the suspension of his accounts, which referenced worries about inciting violence.

Following Trump's return to the White House in January 2025, tech firms have aimed to resolve their conflicts with the president, according to CNBC. In January, Meta revealed it would disburse $25 million to resolve Trump's lawsuit, while X consented to pay $10 million.

YouTube didn't fully suspend Trump's account, but only restricted his capability to upload videos. The service brought back this capability in 2023.
