Yale close to selling $2.5bn investment portfolio

Sources indicated that the university's endowment fund is currently in an advanced phase of negotiations regarding the sale of these assets. The portfolio is anticipated to be sold at a discount of under 10 percent, although prospective purchasers have appraised certain components at a 15 percent discount. 

Yale has not yet sold a substantial volume of private equity assets in the secondary market. 

As of 30 June the previous year, the university's investments in venture capital funds surpassed $10bn, as did its holdings in leveraged buyout funds
