This was stated in an interview with the German Welt am Sonntag by the Chairman of the General Works Council Bernd Osterloh.
“If Tesla builds three factories, which will produce from 300 thousand to 500 thousand cars, then, consequently, we are talking about the total production from 900 thousand to 1.5 million units. We want to achieve the same targets in 2023 or even earlier,” said Mr Osterloh.
According to him, "a huge advantage" of the concern is the modular electric drive matrix, which makes it possible to produce any car of any brand of the concern.
The concern intends to overtake Tesla in terms of software development. “Their advantage is that they already install their own software and use it to collect information. If we put our system in our cars, then in the shortest time we will get much more information,” said Mr. Osterloh, referring to the work of the Artemis project, which is headed by the CEO of the VW manufacturer Audi, and the creation of a single Organization automotive software, which included all VW divisions dealing with software.
