"The General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces and its primary commercial entity Sepehr Energy Jahan Nama Taban (Sepehr Energy) persist in establishing shell companies and depend on purchasers and intermediaries to sell sanctioned oil," the statement reads.

As per Washington's account, Sepehr Energy manages Hong Kong-based firms Xin Rui Ji Trad Co., Limited; Star Energy International Limited, and Milen Trading Co., Limited, which are subject to sanctions.

Washington added that Tehran utilizes the funds gained from oil sales to advance its ballistic missile and drone initiatives and to back pro-Iranian organizations.

The Ministry of Finance noted that the US has sanctioned 253 individuals, legal entities, and vessels linked to Tehran or pro-Iranian groups since Donald Trump's second presidential term began.

Previously, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order reinstating the policy of maximum pressure on Iran. This policy was previously applied during Trump's initial term and called for the enforcement of severe sanctions and additional limitations against Tehran.
