Trump proposes increasing defense budget to $1.01 trillion in FY 2026

US President Donald Trump has proposed $1.01 trillion for defense for FY 2026, as per a budget request unveiled by the White House.

‘Regarding defense expenditure, the President suggests a 13% rise to $1.01 trillion for FY 2026,’ the report reads.

The statement indicates that the rise in the defense budget will enable, among other objectives, the 'prevention of Chinese aggression' in the Asia-Pacific area and reinforce the US military-industrial sector, such as enhancing shipyard capabilities.

It is expected that the resources will be allocated for the development of the 'Golden Dome' missile defense system and the F-47 aircraft. The intention is to 'upgrade the nuclear arsenal' and increase military pay by 3.8%.

Trump additionally asked $175 billion for national security. He stated that these funds are necessary to guarantee total security at the borders, including removing undocumented immigrants.

Simultaneously, the US government anticipates reducing non-defense expenditures by 22.6% .
