Former US President Donald Trump has attacked former US Representative Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina and US representative to the UN, over her refusal to leave the campaign following her loss in the state of New Hampshire's Republican primary.

"It was interesting, I must say, as I exclaimed, “What a great win!” Then, out of nowhere, Haley takes the stage and delivers a speech as though she had won. She did not, however, succeed. She was defeated. It was a really disappointing night for her, so let's not speak about her triumph," The Hill quoted Trump as saying.

"She should do so, otherwise we will continue to waste money instead of spending it on (opposing) Biden, who is our goal," he added.

Furthermore, the former US president said that he was the Republican Party's presumptive nominee for the November presidential contest.

Following the New Hampshire polling results, Haley earlier declared that she would not withdraw from the election regardless of the outcome in that state.
