The regulator revised the pertinent airworthiness directive upon finding new cracks near these components, deeming their status unsafe.

The new inspection mandate will begin on January 13 and will impact 1,924 A320s registered in the United States.

The aviation authorities of the country consistently release and revise airworthiness directives. These frequently tackle minor concerns, yet may also lead to extra maintenance expenses for airlines.

In late November, Airbus disclosed that an examination of an incident with one of its A320s indicated the necessity for an immediate software update to guarantee safe flight operations for the aircraft. The software glitch impacted around 6,000 planes.

A few days later, the company revealed it had found quality problems with fuselage panels for A320 planes, and subsequently revised down its yearly delivery predictions.
