“The Robotaxi app is now accessible to all,” the U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer stated in a social media post on platform X, which also featured a link to the Apple app store.
Tesla introduced its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, at the end of June. Invitations for the initial rides were extended to a chosen group of individuals, and up to this point, the service has been accessible to a restricted circle of investors and influencers.
The robotaxi initiative employs standard Model Y vehicles fitted with cameras and sensors. The completely autonomous Cybercab electric vehicle, revealed last year, remains under development.
