Maruti Suzuki, which is the Indian branch of Suzuki, has started selling the basic model at a price of 1.1 million rupees ($12,100), as stated in an official announcement.

Customers will have the option to lease a battery at a rate of 3.99 rupees for each kilometer. Previously, this option was accessible exclusively to Indian car owners via the local subsidiary of China's SAIC Motor.

The electric SUV was introduced more than a year back and has been manufactured in India since August of the previous year. Maruti has been making adjustments to better suit what customers want and managed to export 13,000 units to 28 different countries in the previous year. The launch in India was also postponed because of the high cost of imported batteries and the lack of adequate charging facilities.

The percentage of electric vehicles in the Indian market is expected to increase to 5% by 2025, which is double the current level. The country is working towards achieving a 30% target by the year 2030. Over the past year, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tesla have introduced their respective vehicle models.
