Starbucks, the operator of the world's largest coffee shop chain, revealed that its US delivery service is continuing to expand quickly, with a year-over-year increase of almost 30% during the fourth quarter of its 2025 fiscal year. Delivery sales surpassed $1 billion in fiscal year 2025, which ended on September 30.

The company explained that delivery orders are generally almost twice the size of in-store orders. Over 40% of delivery orders include both food and drinks. Starbucks also stated that the average delivery time is less than 25 minutes.

The company started experimenting with delivery about a decade ago, but it has been slower to roll it out compared to many other chains, according to CNBC. In 2020, Starbucks made delivery available through the Uber Eats platform, then added DoorDash in 2023 and Grubhub in 2024. Today, the majority of Starbucks locations in the US offer delivery, as noted by the channel.

CNBC reports that coffee delivery is growing at a slower pace in the US compared to other regions, such as China. This is mainly due to the convenience of ordering from a mobile device or while driving, which offers similar convenience without the extra cost.
