The Russian Energy Ministry did not reply to the publication's inquiry for comments. Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov informed journalists at a news conference that he had no knowledge of any intentions to halt oil exports.
The agency reported that in 2025, Kazakhstan provided Germany with 2.146 million metric tons of oil, roughly 43,000 barrels daily, through Russia's Druzhba pipeline. This number surpassed the 2024 figure by 44%. Astana sends oil to Berlin through the northern route of the pipeline that passes through Poland. Reuters reported that the supply is frequently interrupted because of Ukrainian drone strikes on the pipeline.
The PCK Refinery in Schwedt, one of the largest in Germany, receives part of its oil from Kazakhstan through the Druzhba pipeline, after Russian oil shipments were disrupted due to the start of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.
