On March 2, it declared a suspension of LNG production and related products following attacks on its Ras Laffan and Mesaieed facilities. On March 3, it announced a pause in the production of gas-processing products, such as urea, methanol, and polymers.

Reuters sources indicate that restarting production might require at least two weeks following this decision, and achieving full operational capacity could take an additional two weeks or more.

Qatar is among the world's top producers of liquefied natural gas and plays a significant role as a key supplier to Europe, where prices have risen to over $700 per thousand cubic meters. The country also provides a large amount of liquefied natural gas to Asian countries.

In the year 2025, Qatar shipped out 110 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas, which made up about one-fifth of the total global supply. Of this, about 25 million tonnes were sent to China, around 11 million tonnes to India, and 7 million tonnes to South Korea.

On Wednesday afternoon, the price for gas delivered the next day at the benchmark European TTF hub was $595 per thousand cubic meters. Trading for that day ended on Tuesday at $644 per thousand cubic meters.
