Present at the meeting were delegates from Shield AI, a firm focused on military artificial intelligence technology; Anduril Industries, which creates autonomous combat systems; CoAspire, a startup producing affordable cruise missiles; and Castelion, a producer of inexpensive ammunition.
Thus, the Pentagon is more clearly indicating that Silicon Valley will be essential in developing more affordable, intelligent, and compact weaponry, which will change the way the US engages in warfare.
Acting Pentagon Press Secretary Joel Valdez mentioned that the department is changing its weapons development and acquisition strategies, along with its combat approaches. Simultaneously, the department is progressively bringing on board Silicon Valley graduates for its upper-level positions.
