"Concerning arrests, there were 309 total, with 134 individuals taken into custody," stated Acting Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, summarizing the police's endeavors to uphold law and order. He specified that these numbers may fluctuate.

The interior minister stated that the law enforcement ensured the right to protest peacefully. He pointed out that "France was not under lockdown" and that "nearly all" protests occurred in a safe and organized way.

Retailleau expressed gratitude to the trade unions that arranged the protests and regretted that "7,300 radicalized, dangerous people, black blocs" had infiltrated the peaceful demonstrators. He also conveyed sorrow that 26 police officers sustained injuries.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu also firmly denounced the assaults on law enforcement.

The government leader confirmed that the protesters' requests are at the center of ongoing discussions with the nation's political groups and stated that he will meet with labor unions again soon.

The trade unions, which mobilized the French populace against the government's intentions for severe economic policies, view yesterday's protests as a success. Their representatives, conversely, assess the participant count to be between 800,000 and 1 million.

Leaders of France's top labor unions declared they will convene a joint meeting on Friday to determine the next steps in the demands campaign, capitalizing on the achievements of the French mobilization.
