These chips are AMD Instinct MI450, as previously announced by the company. They represent AMD's initial AI processors that function as standalone units, enabling them to be integrated into larger systems. CNBC notes that this is essential for implementing advanced AI technologies. "We are confident that customers will be highly receptive to AMD's offerings," stated Karan Batta, Senior Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

In September, OpenAI entered a five-year cloud computing partnership with Oracle, possibly valued at $300 billion.

Earlier this month, OpenAI revealed a deal with AMD, supplying processors that will deliver a combined 6 gigawatts of computing power over multiple years. If this deal is successful, OpenAI could acquire as much as 160 million AMD shares, representing 10% of the company.

Traditionally, OpenAI has been linked with another chip manufacturer, Nvidia, whose processors were utilized to create ChatGPT, as noted by the channel. Nvidia leads the data center GPU sector, controlling more than 90% of the market.
