During the period from January to June, the fund recorded a profit of 1.75 trillion Norwegian kroner ($184.9 billion). The return reached 9.4%, fueled by the expansion of tech firms in Asia.

The fund is overseen by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), a sector of the Norwegian central bank established in the 1990s to invest the revenues from Norway's oil and gas. It has investments in over 7,000 issuers across 50 nations—1.5% of all publicly listed companies globally. Forty percent of the portfolio of the fund consists of U.S. stocks.

For the first time, the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund has revealed its investment in SpaceX, holding a 0.05% share in Elon Musk's firm, estimated at more than $1.2 billion.

This is considerably less than the fund's other investments: for instance, its share in Nvidia is 1.3%, worth $61.8 billion, while it holds 1.2% in Apple, which amounts to $52.7 billion. The fund additionally holds 1% of Tesla, another firm owned by Musk; this investment was estimated at around $15.7 billion at the close of the first half of the year.
