Venezuela will be able to export a significant amount of food, according to President Nicolas Maduro, who made this statement following the 27th UN climate conference.

"We have a significant task in making Venezuela the center of healthy food production for Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world after hearing many viewpoints at COP27. We will succeed, I'm sure of it!" he stated in his blog on Twitter.

Maduro noted that despite Venezuela having tens of millions of hectares of fertile land, climate change is making conditions for agriculture worse.

Following a visit to Venezuela in August, Martin Griffiths, the UN's Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, reported that the 2022–2023 Humanitarian Response Plan will need about $795 million to provide basic services and food security for 5 million vulnerable Venezuelans.

In doing so, he claimed, Venezuela not only has a special chance to address its own issues, but also has the potential to help address larger global issues such as the energy and food crises.
