The theft took place at approximately 5:30 AM local time. The source reports that multiple hooded individuals forced their way in and shattered six jewelry display cabinets. The robbers took 20 pieces of crystal jewelry. The precise extent of the damage is still under assessment. The source indicated that the robbers seemingly "knew exactly" which items held the highest value.

Authorities are presently examining surveillance video. The museum management stated that the exhibition will be inaccessible to the public for the next few days because of the theft. The museum will implement strategies to guarantee a "peaceful and secure return to operations."

The museum, honoring the French jeweler and artist René Lalique, was inaugurated in 2011. After the theft at the Louvre in Paris in October 2025, the museum was labeled a "location of particular significance" and mandated to maintain "increased security measures."
