The former Estonian Prime Minister said that US President Donald Trump's policies have helped strengthen the stance of France and other nations that support a more "autonomous" Europe, especially when it comes to defense matters. However, she cautioned that moving too quickly to this model could be harmful.
The EU foreign minister stated that Europe must work to decrease its reliance on the United States while continuing to collaborate with it. According to her, European countries are still unable to stop buying American military equipment, but they need to also boost their investments in their own defense industries at the same time.
