According to the publication, such a verdict was issued on Tuesday, October 8. Nicholas Murray, the plaintiff, in his claim complained that as a child he had been taking Risperdal from 2003 to 2008. However, the neuroleptic produced by Johnson & Johnson has a side effect. Turns out that the drug leads to gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in men).

According to Murray, the American holding company knew about the negative side effects of the drug, but could not properly notify doctors and patients about it.

In 2015, the court issued the first verdict in this case, requiring Johnson & Johnson to pay the man $ 1.75 billion. The company appealed against this decision. In February 2018, an appeals court in Pennsylvania recognized the verdict as legal, but reduced the amount of payment to 680 thousand dollars. Murray, in turn, appealed against such a decision. Ultimately, he was awarded $ 8 billion in compensation.
