The cabinet meeting on August 26 will authorize the final sum to be spent. The funds will be utilized to pay for space rental and anti-coronavirus measures.

The Japanese government anticipates that 6,400 people will attend the ceremony, including high-ranking politicians like former U.S. President Barack Obama, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, and French President Emmanuel Macron. The event is scheduled for September 27.

On July 8, Shinzo Abe was fatally shot while attending an election rally. A private funeral service for Mr. Abe's family and friends was held in Tokyo on July 12. The former prime minister's body was cremated.
