JPMorgan Chase & Co. has announced its plans to construct a new headquarters in London for as many as 12,000 employees.

The Canary Wharf development is being created by Norman Foster's Foster + Partners. Foster previously created JPMorgan's headquarters in New York, which opened in October.

The upcoming structure will be among the largest in Western Europe. Its floor space will be around 3 million square feet (280,000 square meters), more than twice the size of London's tallest building, The Shard, and Germany's Commerzbank Tower.

The building of the Canary Wharf headquarters, anticipated to last around six years, is projected to produce about £9.9 billion ($13.1 billion) in revenue for London's economy and aid in the creation of 7,800 jobs, as stated by JPMorgan.

The bank did not reveal the expenses related to building the new complex. Specialists referenced by the Daily Telegraph and The Standard assess it to be more than £3 billion
