Israel is in discussions with multiple nations simultaneously - Ethiopia, Libya, Indonesia, and South Sudan - regarding the potential acceptance of Palestinians departing from the Gaza Strip, CNN reported on Thursday, referencing a high-ranking Israeli official.

“These nations anticipate receiving substantial financial and global compensation in return for accepting some of the over 2 million residents from Gaza,” observes CNN.

The television channel reports that discussions are also taking place with the internationally unrecognized Somaliland.

CNN reports that former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed reporters that Israel is in discussions with various nations regarding the resettlement of Palestinians, though he did not specify any countries. In an interview with the Israeli website i24, he stated that the proposal does not signify a “displacement” of the Palestinians, but rather “enables them to depart.”

In February, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington ought to assume control of the Gaza Strip following the conclusion of the hostilities in the territory. He specifically pointed out that residents of Gaza ought to be relocated to Egypt and Jordan or to other nations. Nevertheless, Arab nations rejected this suggestion.
