Iran will resume talks on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear programme in Vienna on 29 November. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri-Kani announced this on his Twitter page. The date was confirmed by the EU External Action Service and the US State Department.

The EU External Action Service issued a press release confirming the date, specifying that representatives from China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain and Iran would attend the talks.

"On behalf of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora will chair the Joint Commission," the statement said.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the US delegation would also take part in the talks, the delegation traditionally headed by Special Representative for Iran Robert Malley. "We welcome the announcement by the EU that they have coordinated all the negotiators on the resumption of the JCPOA and the seventh round of talks will resume on Monday, November 29," he said at a briefing.

Iran announced that it was going to return to negotiations on the nuclear deal in September just before the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, at which the United States and its European allies were planning to push through a tough resolution against Tehran. In October, it was reported that talks could resume in late November.
