Intel has reduced around 5,000 jobs in the U.S., mainly in California and Oregon, as a component of a major operational efficiency strategy.

On Monday, it was revealed that the latest reductions will impact the data center division. "In line with our plan to enhance the company's focus and efficiency, the data center division will reorganize its structure to better meet business goals," stated an Intel representative.

The spokesperson stated, 'We will honor all employees impacted by the reductions and offer them resources to aid them through this transition."

The firm had indicated that it aims to enhance processes to restore its competitiveness in AI and advanced chip production.

Intel will announce its earnings for the second quarter of 2026 following the closure of U.S. markets on July 23.
