Nvidia Corp., an American company, remained the top global chipmaker, expanding its lead over Samsung Electronics of South Korea and becoming the first company to surpass $100 billion in annual revenue. Samsung saw a 13% increase in memory chip sales last year, but sales of other chip types dropped by 8%.

At the same time, SK Hynix of South Korea climbed to third place, surpassing Intel Corp., which now holds just 6% of the global market share—half of what it had in 2021.

Rajeev Rajput, a principal analyst at Gartner, stated, "AI chips continued to drive unprecedented growth in the semiconductor market, accounting for nearly a third of total sales in 2025." He added, "This dominance is expected to grow further as spending on AI infrastructure is projected to exceed $1.3 trillion in 2026."
