"I called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council because, although we acknowledge Israel's right, like any nation, to legitimate self-defense against Hezbollah assaults (...), there is no justification for the ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon and the escalating occupation of Lebanese land," he stated on BFMTV.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would intensify its actions in Lebanon. "Our troops advanced beyond the Litani River, seized strategic locations, and took control of the Beaufort Ridge."

Ynet reported him stating that his new mission is "to strengthen and extend our influence in the territories once dominated by Hezbollah."

Netanyahu indicated that the military operation would extend over a longer period, assuring that Israel would regain security in the north. Previously, the Times of Israel reported that the IDF seized control of the Beaufort Fortress in southern Lebanon, hoisting the Israeli flag and the Golani Brigade's flag above it.
