Credit Suisse has asked hedge funds and other investors to destroy documents relating to the yachts and private jets of its wealthiest clients to stop leaks about a division of the bank that lent to people who were then sanctioned. The Financial Times reported this, citing three sources who work for the companies that received such a letter from the bank.

The letters from Credit Suisse were sent during the week when the US, UK and EU began imposing sanctions on Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine. In the letters, the bank requested that documents relating to loans secured by "aircraft, yachts, real estate and financial assets" be destroyed, the FT said.

The bank also asked that confidential information previously provided by Credit Suisse in the deal be erased, citing a "recent media leak". They are referring to an earlier story by the FT, the newspaper said.
